You and Your Business

When it comes to business whether you're a sales representative, the president, or a secretary, you ARE a representative of that business. How successful your business is and will become, is reflected by how you act and speak. Many times, we business "folk" are so busy with the running of our business's, that we often overlook the benefits and advantages of marketing ourselves. One of my favorite quotes, that has stayed with me, is by Jay Danzie in which he states: "Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after an experience with you becomes your trademark."

Many times, people ask me, "What are the advantages of having a business headshot?" And to that I begin with, "I'm glad you are three advantages, that I have seen are important factors, to having business headshots.

1. You=Your Business People hire individuals not companies. Poor representation of yourself reflects on your company. For example, if people were to see a photo of you at your second cousins wedding or a professional shot of you with a smile that says "hello let's do business", more than likely, customers will gravitate to a site of the professional shot over a random personal photo. Your business platform needs to carry the look of "I'm serious about working with you", not the look of "I'm a nice fun person, but I may not be up to handling your business needs". Your business should revolve around solid well-cared for working relationships. That being said, customers will connect with business's they can put a trusted face to. A good business photo will help establish your identity, credibility, and competence....hence, the trusted face! This will help customers identify the company better, as well as the employees. Employee of the month, anyone? ;)

2. Quality Matters Congrats to you! You took an amazing selfie! But guess what? No one takes you seriously. Ouch. Right?! I love selfies as much as the next gal, but time and place matters. If you want to be taken seriously, you have to realize quality does matter. So, yes, you need to put your phones down. No matter if you have the newest smartphone with those new amazing camera functions, they won't cut it. Having a professional photographer create the professional business image you are looking for, that WILL cut it! Customers DO notice if you have a bad quality photo, and that may be their one and only impression of  your company. Their first thought may be that  you're trying to cut corners with your business.... i.e. you're cheap!  And if you are cheap, then it's not a far stretch to think your company may be cheap. This then brings them to the conclusion that a cheap company, will do low quality, maybe even poor work. Wow, wake up call! Having a good quality photo reinforces to your customers your commitment to quality and professionalism. In the end the quality of your photo carries the quality of your business.

3. Be You! The final advantage, and probably the most important, is to be yourself! No. Way. Mind. Blown. What makes you different? What makes you stand out from the crowd? Those are your advantages! What better way to bring this across, than in a well done photograph!. I always suggest to my clients to bring two outfits: one professional and one business casual. This creates a human identity with your business and allows for people to connect with you more easily. If you have confidence in your business, shouldn't your photos also reflect that? So relax and be you! Share your ideas with your photographer, so they can capture the best reflection of you. Because the best reflection of you, will give your business the best reflection of itself!
